What Fair Work Needs Us To Know
Recently, the Minister for Employment announced that small business operators will now be able to rely on advice from the Fair Work Ombudsman without fear of prosecution… which in my mind should have been a given from the inception of the Fair Work Ombudsman…
Read Best Practice for Relying on Fair Work Ombudsman Advice to identify the best practice for acting on Fair Work’s advice (or anyone’s for that matter).

New Australian Privacy Principles
On March 12th, 2014 the New Australian Privacy Principles came into force replacing the National Privacy Principles. These principles apply to all organisations with some exceptions and their objective is to ensure that organisations manage personal information in “an open and transparent way”.
Your first task as a business owner or manager is to verify whether these principles are a requirement of your business… and even if they aren’t, you can’t go past utilising them as a best practice personal information management tool for your customers and employees.
My article Payrollers! Are You Prepared for the New Australian Privacy Principles? will explain more and has valuable links for more information.
Hot Topic – Employee Engagement
Kevin Kruse in his Forbes Magazine article “What is Employee Engagement?” writes:
“Employee engagement is the emotional commitment the employee has to the organization and its goals. This emotional commitment means engaged employees actually care about their work and their company. They don’t work just for a paycheck, or just for the next promotion, but work on behalf of the organization’s goals. When employees care—when they are engaged—they use discretionary effort.”
Read Kevin’s article and the ones below to learn more about employee engagement and the difference it can make to your business in so many ways.
